Jamaica: The Council, meeting in the wake of the earthquake on June 7, orders the embargo on shipping lifted but with the provision that any sloop passing the fort at night send a boat to shore to explain its business.

Massachusetts: Elizabeth Booth, one of the newer members of the group of afflicted girls of Salem, claims to see the spirits of eight dead people who tell her that they were killed by the accused witches Elizabeth Proctor, Martha Corey or John Willard in response to disputes between them and the accused, generally involving lack of promised compensation for services rendered and other small quarrels.  Some of the ghosts who accuse Proctor, including Booth’s stepfather Michael Shaflin, claim that she killed them because they didn’t take her medical advice.
